Editorial policy & AI
Source-first reporting
Automated stories require at least two distinct publishers covering the same development. Multiple feeds from one publisher count as one. We use published feed summaries as evidence, preserve important qualifications, and link to the original accounts. A feed being publicly available does not give us ownership of its articles or photographs.
Original synthesis
We write a new summary that brings the facts together, explains their significance where the sources support it, and states what remains unknown. We do not reproduce full articles, use publisher logos, or present a lightly altered copy as original reporting.
Automated checks and publication
The system checks citations, long phrase overlap, and whether claims are supported by the supplied evidence. A separate AI review checks the headline, excerpt, article and key points before publication. These checks reduce errors but cannot guarantee accuracy. Stories that fail are held. Articles are published automatically when checks pass; they are not described as reviewed by a human editor unless that review occurred.
Illustrations
Illustrations are generated from the subject of the article in a serious pen-and-ink style. They are labelled as conceptual AI illustrations, not photographs or evidence of the event. Publisher images are not copied or traced.
Corrections
Readers can report a factual error through our contact page. Material corrections are recorded with the article. Original source links remain available so readers can assess disagreements.
