Google marks London cloud incident ended, with most customers’ services mitigated
The 20 October power incident affected europe-west2-b. Google’s final update distinguished broad recovery from a small number of remaining customer cases.

Google has marked its 20 October London cloud incident as ended, after a power event disrupted services in the europe-west2-b zone. Its final public update said the issue had been mitigated for most customers, while engineers were still working with a very small number of affected users.
Recovery was not an unconditional all-clear
The distinction matters for organisations assessing the interruption: closing the incident record did not mean Google had confirmed that every individual customer’s problem was resolved. Google directed customers still experiencing an impact to open a support case.
The incident page, checked on 21 October, gives a start time of 7:08 a.m. and an end time of 3 p.m. on 20 October in British Summer Time. Google displays its original timeline in US Pacific time. The final status message was posted at 3:03 p.m. British Summer Time.
A London zone and wider regional errors
Google identified a power event in europe-west2-b. It also described elevated errors and intermittent network problems for some services across the wider europe-west2 region. Earlier recovery updates prioritised existing workloads and warned that creating new workloads could remain unavailable during recovery.
These are provider-level findings. The status record does not by itself establish which separate banks, retailers or other organisations experienced an outage because of this incident, so this report does not attribute disruptions at named downstream businesses.
Incident analysis still to follow
Google said it would publish an analysis after completing its internal investigation. No such analysis appeared on the incident page when checked. The power event is therefore the provider’s stated immediate explanation, rather than a completed public account of the underlying cause.
