ExxonMobil reports $15.4bn quarterly profit, sets $1.07 dividend
ExxonMobil reported $15.4bn in third-quarter profit and $25.7bn in operating cash flow. Its declared $1.07 dividend is payable on December 10.

ExxonMobil reported third-quarter profit of $15.4 billion on October 30, with stronger earnings from its Energy Products business offsetting a decline in oil and gas production earnings. The U.S. energy company also declared a quarterly dividend of $1.07 per share.
Net income rose from $14.5 billion in the second quarter. Diluted earnings per share increased to $3.72 from $3.48. Operating cash flow reached $25.7 billion, while the company reported $19.1 billion in free cash flow, a non-GAAP measure.
Reported profit and adjusted earnings differ
ExxonMobil put adjusted third-quarter earnings at $17.5 billion, or $4.23 per share. Those figures exclude certain significant non-operational items and estimated timing effects, including effects associated with derivatives and physical commodity transactions. They are separate from the $15.4 billion profit reported under U.S. generally accepted accounting principles.
| Measure | Third quarter | Second quarter |
|---|---|---|
| GAAP net income | $15.413bn | $14.525bn |
| Adjusted earnings, non-GAAP | $17.505bn | $14.680bn |
| Diluted earnings per share | $3.72 | $3.48 |
| Adjusted earnings per share, non-GAAP | $4.23 | $3.52 |
Figures are from the company’s earnings release. The comparison is with the preceding quarter, not the same quarter of 2025. Adjusted results do not replace GAAP net income.
Energy Products gains offset weaker upstream earnings
The Energy Products segment earned $7.169 billion, up from $5.465 billion in the second quarter. ExxonMobil attributed the improvement to higher margins and operating performance. It said crude units at its U.S. Gulf Coast refineries operated at 100% utilization during the quarter.
Upstream earnings fell to $7.088 billion from $7.927 billion. The company cited lower prices and the timing of its production entitlement in Guyana. Chemical Products earnings also declined, while Specialty Products earnings increased.
For the first nine months of 2026, total reported profit reached $34.121 billion, compared with $22.343 billion a year earlier. These nine-month totals cover a different period from the quarterly figures above.
Dividend dates and the 2027 buyback plan
The declared $1.07 dividend is payable on December 10, 2026, to holders of record at the close of business on November 16. During the third quarter, ExxonMobil returned $9.4 billion to shareholders through $4.3 billion in dividends and $5.1 billion in share repurchases.
The company also announced planned share repurchases of $20 billion in 2027, assuming reasonable market conditions. That is a forward-looking plan, separate from the repurchases already completed during this quarter.
ExxonMobil scheduled its results webcast for 8:30 a.m. Central Time on October 30. This report is based on the published earnings release and accompanying presentation; it does not include comments from that later webcast.
