Medline revises bed recall instructions and adds repair option for eligible products
Medline says affected beds may remain in use under revised instructions while awaiting repair or replacement. Users should unplug when not repositioning the patient and must not use extension cords.

Medline has changed the instructions associated with its field action for Medline Brand beds, rails, mattresses and accessories, allowing affected products to remain in use under revised conditions while customers await repair or replacement.
The manufacturer’s 24 October 2026 update revises a communication issued on 14 October about product removal, market exit and discontinuation. It also adds a repair route that was not included in the earlier communication. Medline says it made the update in consultation with the US Food and Drug Administration.
The revised operating instructions
Medline instructs users to unplug affected beds from electrical outlets. When a necessary adjustment is being made, the bed may be plugged in while repositioning the patient, then unplugged when repositioning is finished.
The company also says not to use extension cords to power the bed. Whenever possible, a second person should be available to help with the bed’s use and movement.
These are the manufacturer’s updated conditions for continued use of products covered by the field action. They should not be read as a general instruction for every hospital bed made by another brand.
Which remedy may be available?
Certain existing Medline Brand beds may be eligible for repair. If Medline determines a bed or accessory cannot be repaired, the company says it will work with the customer to assess eligibility for replacement or a full or partial refund of the original purchase price.
Those remedies may be available for certain beds, rails, mattresses and accessories purchased in the last five years. Products bought more than five years ago are still covered by the field action and revised instructions; their age does not remove the need to follow the notice.
The update does not promise every buyer a full refund or say every bed is repairable. Beds that complete an authorised repair may subsequently be used according to their Instructions for Use.
Contact Medline before attempting repairs
Users should not repair, modify or alter the beds unless specifically instructed through a Medline-authorised repair process. Customers can call 1-800-950-0128, option 7, for information or to start the applicable remedy process.
For adverse-event reporting, the notice gives [email protected] and the same telephone number with option 5, as well as FDA MedWatch. The announcement is the source for the instructions reported here; the repair and refund decision remains product- and customer-specific.
