Costway recalls about 3,332 convertible high chairs over entrapment and fall risks

The U.S. recall covers chairs that convert into a table-and-chair set. Owners should stop using them and contact Costway for a free replacement.

Costway is recalling about 3,332 convertible high chairs sold in the United States because a child can slip through the gap between the feeding tray and seat, become trapped or fall. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall on October 22 and told owners to stop using the chairs immediately.

The agency says the chairs lack a passive restraint system and fail the mandatory high-chair safety standard. The identified hazards can cause serious injury or death. No incidents or injuries were reported in the recall notice; that does not remove the instruction to stop use.

Which chairs are covered?

The recalled Costway chairs are designed to convert into a separate table-and-chair set. Color combinations include purple and white, red and white, blue and white, and brown and white. CPSC says the products have no tracking information printed on them.

They were sold at Walmart and Target stores nationwide and on Costway.com between May 2023 and July 2026, for approximately USD 84 to USD 100. The notice identifies Goplus Corporation, doing business as Costway, of Fontana, California, as the retailer, and says the chairs were manufactured in China.

Because the notice does not provide a model number or a tracking-label check, owners can compare their chair with the four product photographs on the original CPSC page. This recall concerns the specified convertible design; it does not announce a recall of every Costway product.

How the replacement process works

Owners should contact Costway to arrange a free replacement high chair. The company will ask for a purchase receipt or a photograph of the product, then provide a prepaid shipping label for returning the recalled chair.

Costway will send the replacement without charge after receiving the returned product. The announced remedy is replacement, so the notice should not be read as an offer of an automatic cash refund or permission to keep using the chair while waiting.

Contact details

Costway can be reached toll-free at 844-242-1885, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time, or by email at [email protected]. Its website has a Recall link at the bottom of the page.

The CPSC reference number is 27-040. Keeping that number with a receipt or product photograph can help owners identify the announcement when contacting the company.
