Aldi customers who bought an Ambiano Ionic hairdryer in August or September 2025 are being urged to check its model and barcode following a high-risk safety recall. The Office for Product Safety and Standards says affected dryers should no longer be used and can be returned to the nearest Aldi store for a full refund.

The notice was published on 19 October 2026 and records the recall date as 16 October. It concerns model 849855 in black, white, yellow and orange, rather than every hairdryer sold under the Ambiano brand.

Check the barcode underneath the dryer

The recall notice identifies the following barcodes, located on the underside of the dryer itself:

ColourBarcode
Black4061462195075
White4061462195211
Yellow4061462195310
Orange4061462195372

Matching the product details matters: the colour alone is not enough to establish whether a dryer is included in this notice.

Why the product has been recalled

OPSS says the power cord may become damaged over time, potentially exposing live parts or causing overheating. It classifies the risk as high and identifies both electric shock and fire hazards.

The regulator says the product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016. The notice does not provide a recalled unit total or establish that every affected dryer has already developed a fault.

What owners should do

The official instruction is to stop using the affected product immediately and return it to the nearest Aldi store for a full refund. Consumers seeking further assistance can follow the Aldi customer-support link in the OPSS notice.

The recall remains relevant to products already in households: the dryers were sold in 2025. The October 2026 notice is a safety action for those existing purchases, rather than an announcement about a new product range.
